My parts book is from 64 to 75 so doesn't have some information. My rear drums don't fit two good, (go on real tight) so I thought maybe there was a problem with the drums or axel shaft.

A catalog I have has the front and rear drum numbers for 64-67 as 3845258 and 3841176 respectively. I have drums with # 3841198 on the front and 3841177 on the rear. Can anyone tell me what year these drums are for and if they are for the front or rear and if there is a difference?

Also the axel I have is a 66 12 bolt. The number stamped on the axel shaft is 9142 and there is also a WR. Can anyone tell me what these numbers/letters mean or if this is the correct axel shaft ?

Thanks,

Ever tried to adjust the shoes? Even original factory drums will fit tight or loose if the shoes aren't adjusted properly...

Not a problem with the brake shoes. It is between the axel hub lip and the brake drum, goes on very tight and I have to use a hammer to get it off. Thats why I listed the number on the axel and the drums, I think there OK; but was unsure. There is no unusual interferance with the shoes.

It's supposed to be tight, the brake drum registers off of the lip on the axle, that's how it stays centered. If it's a little tight, then take a sander and lightly grind the drum hole, but don't do too much or you'll have a pulasting brake pedal.
