SebJr Jan 21st, 07, 9:02 AM Nice car but I dont know about 60K.
I'll be shocked if somebody clicks the Buy it now button. :noway:
Woj Jan 22nd, 07, 12:00 AM I personally inspected the car when it was for sale by the last dealership, only two weeks ago. The engine, trans have the vin stamped and the rear end is a numbers match as well. It is a beautiful car and in great shape with correct mileage. With the rest of the original equipment it would be spectacular. Great car, but I don't know about 60K for it.

Did you look closely at the misaligned numbers on the odometer?
This car wreaks of mischief

I based my judgement of the car on my Baltimore built 69 SS with 27K miles and the 10 69 Chevelles I have owned throughout the years. I'm not trying to sell the car, but I have looked at dozens and can resonably determine a frauded car. I went to Barrett Jackson last week, and I didn't see many 69 SSs that was much better than this one.
The car has the crispness of a low mileage car. Even though the dash has a crack in the upper left corner, the chrome is crisp and the area behind the dash is untouched with original insulation. Original dashes (bezels) did on occasion fall out of the car after the bezel screws backed off (or pulled through). A cracked bezel is unfortunate, but not unrealistic. Door panels looked original, if they weren't they were the best repops ever. Clutch pedal pad was worn, but mine was shot at 22K miles (and driven by a woman). The originals had very thin lines and did not wear well. You never know what shoes or boots the driver may be wearing either. It was the original pedal pad, you don't see that very often. New GM pads are different than the originals.
The trunk is original with an original mat, these mats get tired after nearly 40 years, but it is the original one. Same as my car. Baltimore cars even had sealer painted on around the tail panel moulding clips and this car had that too.
Vinyl top appeared original, it had the right texture and no padding underneath it. If it wasn't, it was a great repop. Inside the qtr panels (viewed through the qtr vent) was pristine. No bondo, no rust, no dents. Doors closed like a showroom new car, weatherstrip was original and in good shape.
Negatives: Car was probably hit in the front. Front bumper was rechromed, grille replaced and the inner fenders replaced with repop plastic inner fenders. I didn't see any frame damage or evidence of it being straightened. Fuel lines were separated/and/or repaired near the tank. Can't tell why.
Overall, it was a very nice car. I had the chance to buy it two dealers ago, but have no extra room and two projects to be finished. I personally don't feel it is worth 60K, probably 40K max. It will take 4K to get the engine back to original with valve covers, air cleaner, exhaust manifolds and correct smog system.
That is my $.02 worth, if anyone is serious about the car, pm me and I can tell you more.
