: best place to purchase wire welder
66dream Jan 19th, 07, 11:02 PM KI'm interested in purchasing a Miller 175 mig welder.
I see them on ebay.
Anyone think of why I should not purchase from an ebay dealer?
thanks
Sparke60 Jan 20th, 07, 12:56 AM Have you checked with a local dealer to see how much price difference there is? Unless it's quite a bit I would buy locally. Your local dealer might even match that Ebay price. If you buy locally you see what you're getting & that dealer will be more helpful if there are problems.

matt60j Jan 20th, 07, 1:25 AM I recently bought a miller 175 locally. It was $20 more than the best online price. However it came with the cover so I came out $20 ahead. They also knocked off $60 from the welding helmet! Definetely go local If you are buying several items.

I'm having a hard time finding anyone who carrys then. TSC used to but now carry hobart. I want a Miller because of the infinite adjustment on voltage & wire speed.

This looks like a very good deal with free shipping
Can you tell me if your local purchase price was close to this?

Johnny O Jan 20th, 07, 9:57 AM buy local....especially for something that expensive, and heave to ship. As mentioned, if you have any questions, service problems, etc, they will take care of you. And on the Hobart, I have one, they are made by the same mfgr. as Miller, and I am very happy with mine.
Wooderson Jan 20th, 07, 12:08 PM The guy at the local welding store said all of the new 110 and 220 model Lincoln and Millers are all variable setting now. Also said the Lincolns had some minor improvements eliminating some plastic parts.
Sparke60 Jan 20th, 07, 1:01 PM Look in the yellow pages under welding supplies. An area as large as where you live has to have a bunch them.

1968SS Jan 20th, 07, 8:47 PM here's the best prices that I found on the internet. http://store.cyberweld.com/millerwelders.html
I bought two Miller welders from them and was pleased with the service. If you can find comparable prices locally, by all means buy locally. I could not find any local prices that were even close to these.
Cheers

Steve,
thanks, I had looked at that site also.
Good price. I will do some callling around on Monday but, I don't think the local places can even come close to that kind of pricing.

Give them a chance at least, they will want you as a customer. It's nice to have a working relationship with a local dealer, for those times you want service, parts or supplies, or just to ask a question.
haughty Jan 20th, 07, 9:59 PM For me,
I'd buy local. Two reasons-
One you are gonna need some items from the welding supply(gas/wire welding tips and other things) and getting a good introduction to a good supply house is always a plus.
two- you can get some service if needed. Its always good money and less headache.
and miller- you can get parts to them.
happy welding:thumbsup:
BillsCamino Jan 20th, 07, 10:04 PM FYI...Miller and Hobart are the same company.
My Hobart 175 came out of the box brand new with a Miller gun.
BTW...I bought mine online a couple years ago...great deal! Cheaper than local and with free shipping (and no sales tax).
Either way, be sure to buy the cart too. Handy.
jimbuck Jan 22nd, 07, 7:54 AM I used BR Welders. Bob matches any price and is great to work with. Web is brwelders.com I think.

I have a Hobart 210, I also recommend a local purchase, just in case you need help.
