I purchased a 1967 ss non matching engine car that was represented as a 396. Just behind the alternator on passenger side was stamped T6Z504729. Can anyone help in decoding this? Thanks Much

Clover,

Go to http://www.mortec.com/ and look up the casting number the web site will show you where it is. This information will tell you what engine you have. The numbers you posted will tell you where it was built and what it came in. Hopefully someone will decode it for you, sorry I don't have that info.

There should be some letters too, like "CS" or "TSC" at the end of the VIN number string.

And they just might be on a little deck pad that's right above the middle of the w/p pulley??

Post back and we will try to decode it if it is still a virgin?
