I've got the one for Chevy Trucks through 1972 and the one for Corvettes 1953-82. I still need the one for passenger cars though.

I have one on CD, bought IT on ebay for under $20. Also have one for Pontiacs, thinking about a pre-65 one and maybe a Vette one.

The hardest part is knowing how to use one. Luckily, I was trained by the General.

I have the truck one also. I haven't opened it in 6 years, maybe it needs to be on ebay.

But what are the printing dates?
The one above was printed April '76,the one I have was printed in 1983.
If a part was discontinued...it didn't go in the catalog.Probably a lot more info in that 1976 version than the 1983. Granted...$315. is rather steep!

Even on CD with search feature, it does not find parts half the time and when it does, you have to guess if it is correct. Sometimes it shows a left and not a right, sometimes it doesnt show anything and you know that there is a part that belongs there! :(

I have one from very late 1971 (with some 72 parts info) I salvaged from the trash when working at a Chevrolet dealer parts counter when the new versions came out covering years 65 through early 72. While a good reference source, many part numbers changed - probably several times - and many times the listed part numbers are service replacement parts. I'd give one (like mine) maybe a 65%-70% rating when looking up part numbers. Even the catalog has incorrect, or at least incomplete, info on things like trim options, engine suffix codes, etc. for earlier years of Chevelles. Also salvaged most of a Parts & Accessories Catalog for 46-64. That's cool to see some pretty original parts for those years. Anyone need side trim numbers for 55/56 Nomads? :)

Almost any Detroit Iron CD will have the same info. I have two, one for 67 and one for 69, but the actual reprinted catalog info is the same and dated only a month or so different from my paper copy. Differences in the two Detroit Iron CDs are copies of body manuals, chassis service manuals, and what was going on that particular year in the world.

I checked the auction, it doesnt seem too bad for all the information contained within. I have pais significantly more than that for some of my early VW service manuals and parts books (early 50s stuff).

The trick is to know how to use it. I don't use a search. It's set up on GM's own system-kinda like how a library has it's own cataloging system.

You can use the illustration section to get the group number, or after time, you get used to the names of the parts, and their group numbers, and can go directly to the area without looking for it. It just takes experience and practice like anything else.
