With these new headers it was apparent it has to be reclocked so the solenoid is back on top as one primary tube loops under it, goes in towards the pan and back out hitting the solenoid. ...

Now that I have it torn apart it occurred to me to test it before I stick it back in. Worked fine when I ran it years ago, but it has been sitting.

THere is a spade connector, one terminal the batt cable goes on and one more similar terminal I have no idea what goes to it if any.

How do I do this? Can I use soem type of household battery?

As far as starter bolts, I got some bolt kit from Kragen. One is too short, one looks like it will fit and one is WAY too long.

Thanks:beers:

get a good car battery and a set of either battery cables or jumper cables.
hook up a cable from the (+) terminal on the battery to the big stud.
hook up a ground wire from the main body somewhere to the (-) terminal on the battery.
use a screwdriver to jump across from the big terminal to either of the little terminals until the starter makes a whirring noise and jumps off the bench and lands on your foot.. if it does that, it's good.

Get yourself a remote starter button and use it in place of the :

"use a screwdriver to jump across from the big terminal to either of the little terminals...."

Hold the starter with one hand and hit the button with the other. Yes the starter will have a torque reaction. They're "muscular" and they will jump when activated. Thats why you hold it firmly. Its way too easy to get a screwdriver connected from batt + to ground when you are fiddling around like that. A remote starter button is much more desirable.

They sell remote starter buttons at Kragens also. Every mechanic should have one. They are good for many, many jobs around a car.
