I was wondering why the drip rail chaulking needs to be a flexible type. Could a epoxy putty like POR 15 putty be used in this application. The putty smooths out nice with with water on your finger tips. Just thought it would make a better looking seam. Anyone used this before?

3M seam seal will be better for the aplication and be much less expensive. That POR stuff gets hard and brittle. your roof flexes alot than you may think.

The drip rail area's are notorius for problems. Just ensure that the area is extremely clean and the prep is good. I would also suggest that you spend the extra time to make sure that everything is sanded and primed perfectly. There is nothing worse than having the paint peel off after a year or two.
You didn't mention the year of the car. You should also pay attention to the way the moldings are attached. The painting can be tricky especially on the earlier car's (64-67) because the interior colours come out under the moldings and connect to the body colour. It's tought to describe but if you need more info, just ask and I'll try to post a pic.
Hope it helps.

A concern that I would have would be the seal that the POR putty makes. Will it be water-tight? The seam sealer that is designed for the driprail is formulated to seal the seam and keep water out.
