Looking to learn how many 1969 SS Chevelles
had this color combo. YES it is butt ugly, but correct.
It has an old repaint of original.
Dark brown with Champaign beige (paint) top.
Green interior. Thank You Tom Smid 708-707-4173

Also, I changed color on my 70 SS 454
from forest green to Cortez Silver. But this 69 SS "L" car is such an odd
combo, that I have curiosity over how many could be produced
in this combination. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GATHER
REAL NUMBERS ON COLORS PRODUCED??

There are no production numbers on color combinations.

That combination sounds like one of a kind (UGLY)

I had a burnished brown 69 with dark brown vinyl top and black interior.

I'm sure some of us would know how to do it. The problem is, Chevrolet never kept records of the #'s of cars built in a certain color, therefore there's nothing for any of us to gather.

Tom, I have four 69 chevelles entered in my Kansas assembly plant list, which includes yours, that have the 61-63 paint combo, that I have found to date. One is a Non-L car with 753 interior, two L bodies, yours (795) and 790, and one Z with 752 interior. Out of curiosity I checked my Baltimore list and found only three and they have B M letters (believed to be non SS bodies), they have 753, 790 and 791 interiors. I have none found yet for the other 69 assembly plants, doesn't mean there aren't more though. I agree as mentioned before, what a combo you have with the green interior. Looking at the straight color 61 bodies the main interiors seem to be parchment or black. The straight color 63 bodies seem to use the same as the 61 bodies. The info I have here is gathered from fellow TCers and from internet adds and info. I try to use the original numbers from a tag to maintain the list as how they were built. I am at just under 1000 combined for the 1969 assembly plants and adding a few a week as they are found. The info from the restoration packet shows only black and parchment as available with that color combo, I'd suspect someone might have special ordered the interior color. Any chance of getting a pic of the trim tag? Take care Andy

I believe that color was called Ghobi Beige(sp), I totally butchered the spelling on that though, sorry.:o

Tom ... I say, sorry, but it does sound like a yuck combo. Mine wasn't much better ... 61 E (brown body, white vinyl).

I'm always amazed at the color combo's ... you always have to remember that somebody actually chose to drive that off a dealer lot when new. Now I've never cared what color my 10yr old beaters were, but something brand new? Oh well, it was in back then.

Sorry, but you're going to have a hard time coming up combo build estimates. I'm pretty sure no one even has records of how many body's were painted certain colors.

Thanks, Neal

Gobi Beige is the correct spelling, named after the chinese desert, i guess.
Knew of one car (70) with that color, in albuquerque, was bench, ls-3 (402) TH 400 and column shift.

I sold a '65 Malibu SS 283-220 horse 4-barrel car about 15 years ago that was really an odd color combo.

It was Glacier Grey bottom/Madeira Maroon painted top, and Saddle (tan) interior.

Someone had painted the car Gobi Beige long before I bought it so it didn't look too bad. Rather nice, actually.

After I sold it, the guy that bought it decoded the cowl tag and did a restoration, including painting it to those original colors. It is truly a strange color combo. I guess you could order nearly anything back then.:)

My '69 Malibu was originally Burnished Brown with Parchment Vinyl top and Parchment interior. I think that would be a pretty sharp combo with the brown being a dark brown metallic. I've seen a '69 SS in with that combo at CB and it looked very nice. Now mine is orange with black vinyl top and orig Parchment int. Soon to be '69 Burgundy.

all of those colors sound ugly when you say them but get them on a chevelle with a very slick paint job and...well its a chevelle and myself I've yet to see an ugly one especially one wearing the original colors.
I had a 69 a few years back that was Burnished Brown with a brown vinyl top and black int.I went with LeMans Blue and black top,now everytime I see a Burnished Brown 69 I think to myself how sharp that car is and how stupid I was to change the original color,a color that could look that good.
I made a promise to myself to never change a car from its original color no matter how ugly it sounds because I have to remember that when it gets done its still a chevelle no matter the color and that I've never seen an ugly Chevelle.
