What is the "stock" spec for a the second ring on a big block. Running KB pistons so the top gap is big. What does a motor maunal suggest for the second?

11's,

The stock gap specification is not important unless you are using stock GM pistons and rings. You need to find out the recommended specs for the piston rings you are using. Most ring manufacturers have increased the recoomended gap on the second ring in recent years. There are too many reasons to explain quickly. Bottom line, do what your ring manufacturer says, there should be instructions in with the rings.

.005-.0055 / inch of bore will work just fine for the KB.

For the second ring, good, we were guessing they should be a around .020. 4.155 bore and the rings were coming out of the box at .008, and the pistons sheet just says " no extra clearance needed".Thanks

Yes, second ring, .020-.022 is fine.
I would say .008 is somewhat on the tighter side of spec,,,, :noway:
