Ok, I have taken my Chevelle down to bare metal and sealed with PPG M-170 Epoxy. Then I sprayed the entire car with Slick Sand.

I knock the Slick Sand down with 180 grit, then filled the low spots with filler, followed by another coat of Slicksand.

I have now blocked the car down to 320 and plan to block to 600 and then seal with a coat of reduced M-170 prior to shooting the PPG Deltron Silver.

My question is, after blocking to 320, I have several small areas where I am back into the filler and some spots where I’m back into the bare metal.

I know it may be overkill, but, I'm gonna spray a coat of 2k Urethane Primer and block it prior to spraying the epoxy primer/sealer.

Will the 2K stick to the 320 finish on the slicksand or do I need to rough it all up first.

Thanks

2K might have trouble adhering to the bare metal. I've seen it recommended here that you at least cover the bare areas with epoxy primer before using 2K.

Don't think you need to go all the way to 600, that seems a little bit much. 400 should be good enough.

Coat your bare metal with epoxy first. 320 is just fine. Id also spray more then just one coat of 2K primer.

Like sevt chevelle said, cover the bare metal areas with more epoxy primer and then shoot the 2K. Two coats of the 2K, blocking between coats, should ensure you of a straight body.
