: I'M GONNA KILL MY KID!!!!!!!!!!!!
69-CHVL Sep 6th, 03, 11:44 PM My 3 year old picked up a bottle of Castrol Super Clean (the purple stuff) and sprayed it along the entire side of my car. It left streakes.
I don't know what kind of paint this is.
Do you think it can be buffed-out?

Donnie1 Sep 7th, 03, 1:25 AM Vince,
i feel for your problem, but i think you should change the topic name.
its only paint it can be fixed.
Cecil Sep 7th, 03, 1:50 AM That's what kids do. You gotta keep both eyes on them all the time, and they still cause trouble...
TonyZ Sep 7th, 03, 1:55 AM better on your car than in his own eyes - keep that crap where kids cant get it
BB_Mike Sep 7th, 03, 4:05 AM Still, I'd shake him a good bit.
Just wash with simple sope and water first, not trying to rub it in. The move on to more agressive cleansers.
If it's a clear coat, anything can be buffed out.
If it's just a base coat, be more carefull how much you buff. ;)
boomhauer Sep 7th, 03, 9:36 AM I used that stuff on some real tough stains on my white stripes. If you leave it on to long it will fade the paint.Almost makes it look heavily oxidized.I buffed it out no problem.Mine was singlt stage urethane.Unless you have laquer paint dont sweat it.
Randy Mosier Sep 7th, 03, 2:45 PM He was just trying to help Dad, and he was likely imitating what he had seen you do many times. Hopefully, it'll buff out.
Gary D Sep 7th, 03, 3:35 PM Was it left on until it dried or was it wiped off?
Gary D Sep 7th, 03, 3:42 PM I'm sorry for the double post, it's been awhile, my youngest was around three or four when he sprayed "Purple Power" on the wife's Hunter Green Caravan. I was able to buff it out fine. It was bc/cc of course but I didn't find out until a couple of days later. Go easy on the kid I laid it on Tyler pretty good and found out a couple years later he has muscular dystrophy. He's 11 now and can't even raise himself up in bed. I'd give ANYTHING if he could spray something on my cars. Peace
MikeH Sep 7th, 03, 4:08 PM patience grasshopper. :D I can relate.. I painted the coupe about 2 weeks ago in the garage and my 2.5 year old snuck into the garage while I was in the shower. He took a screwdriver to the passenger door and quarter.Did wonders on the still wet clear. Like posted above, He was just "working on the car" as my youngest one calls. I was more concerned with him getting into something and hurting himself. since I have repainted the car and all is well.I also made it a point to put all hazardous materials into a locking cabinet because he always wants to "work on the car".
JakeS Sep 7th, 03, 4:30 PM Having children is like being pecked to death by a duck.
4MyChevelles Sep 7th, 03, 6:14 PM Pecked to Death by a Duck
OH GREAT ....we just brought home are first born a couple months ago and now i'm going to be pecked to death............
69-CHVL Sep 7th, 03, 8:56 PM Hey Guys, I'm not really gonna kill him :D . But he does need a lickin'.
The stuff was on there for about 15 minutes, then I wiped it off w/a wet rag.
My friend came over, used 1500 grit paper and wet-sanded some of them out. He then used some 3m stuff (forget what it was called) and all seems well graemlins/thumbsup.gif .
I'm not sure what kind of paint I have but he did say it not bc/cc.
We plan on getting the rest of the stuff out next weekend. Hope that it won't get any worse.
Thanks Guys

Layne 67 Sep 9th, 03, 3:38 PM Here's my two cents, Keep all the chemicals locked up and the garage door locked unless you are around.I have a very curious kiddo and I keep everything locked and I don't have to worry about him getting in there.
Glad the finish is ok though....

REALLY bad idea!
Click here to read why, (http://www.dontshake.com/sbsquestions.html) and it doesn't just apply to babies.
I personally don't think this kid deserves any sort of "lickin" for trying to help Dad wash the car. It was an honest mistake, not an act of malice, and I'd also echo the comments about doing a better job of locking up your toxic materials (and we do use a LOT of them in this hobby).
The good news is that in a few years, he'll be genuinely helpful. My ten-year-old son has saved me a lot of crawling under the car and wrench-turning. He's still at the wonderful age when my big chores seem like big adventures to him.
Pecked to death by a duck????

Juli&Tif Sep 9th, 03, 5:05 PM Oh vince...not that I'd let kids around my car...but definitely change that title...it may come back to haunt you.
Also, you're lucky he didn't drink the super-clean instead of spray it..that stuffs deadly.
The only paint "cleaner" i've had success with is Mequiars Paint cleaner. It's gentle..follow the directions and use carefully. Do a spot test first. This might work. Or contact the manufacturer...they might have a better fix.
My daughter was practicing pin-striping (next to her beautiful 71 Chevelle ...just painted) and she accidently whacked the pin-stripe brush and ugly blue paint splattered the whole right rear 1/4 panel. Luckily that paint-cleaner took it right off..even the dried stuff.
good luck and hug your kid.
MARTINSR Sep 10th, 03, 2:00 AM Doing things like that is a three year olds "job". smile.gif You have to look at what exactly he was doing, was he being a "Bad boy" or a "Little boy". Well, I will tell you, a "little boy" and that is his job. If you don't want him to do his job, keep him away from the tools.
One thing for sure, DON'T make a big deal out of it and make him scared of the darn garage. When YOU are in there, it should be "his" place as well as yours. That is if you want to have a lasting, close relationship with him.
Pecked by ducks? huh? I personally don't like jokes of any kind that belittles or pokes fun at hurting children.
Think about this, what do you expect from a child when his daddy, the one he looks up to more than anyone on earth is telling his buddies that he is "pecking" dad to death?
I remember one time when my oldest boy was about 10 (over ten years ago) and he knocked my bike over and broke the brake lever. I bitched at him and made him feel real bad, big man I was. Well the only a few days later after replacing the handle, I knocked it over and broke it again! We are all human.
I think if you look at about 99% percent of the things a little kid does it is just them being a "little kid" not a "Bad kid".
tony r Sep 10th, 03, 3:12 AM i would love to crack my neighbors kids asses!!!! 2 days after they moved in there 5 and 6 year old kids ran into my garage and grabbed a can or red engine spraypaint and chased after each othe sprying my tool box benches and wood cabinets along the way !!! thank god they didnt spray each other !! and when i confronted there looser of a father he just laughed and said oh well there just being kids!!! what the hell was that?? iwould have beat him near death if had been any of my or the wifes cars that got it!! i told him next time his kids enter my garage they would be spanked and then i would take care of him  !!!!!! they now have a fence!! thank god and i now always store chemicals in a locked cabinet!!! i have lots of freinds with kids and they dont act like that!!! but u never know!!
MARTINSR Sep 10th, 03, 9:57 AM If your daddy sat out on the street corner selling crack, you would likely do the same. The kids dad is a jerk and he has raised a couple.
As my dad says
"Os cachorros de caçada vêm de raça de caçada".
"Hunting dogs come from Hunting breed".
Your nieghbor is mutt.
jmhardin Sep 10th, 03, 10:05 AM "Os cachorros de caçada vêm de raça de caçada".
Ok, I gotta know: How do you say that? What is the language?
robert defalco Sep 10th, 03, 10:34 AM its portuguese correct?
my wife is full breed
nicest people ive ever met as a whole
been to portugal great people and great food

I think if you look at about 99% percent of the things a little kid does it is just them being a "little kid" not a "Bad kid". [/QB]I dont think anyone here can deny being in the same situtation. That is one thing I try to keep in mind. many of us try to hold a 5 or 10 year old to a higher standard than we are able to reach ourselves as adults. why do so many spank or yell at a child for accidently scratching our car with a bicyle but feel when we scratch a fender with a wrench its no big deal.
MalibuMike70 Sep 10th, 03, 12:56 PM I would like to spank my neighbor's wife, she is smoken hot. she is always wearing.... oh wait your talking about somethng else. ;) :D
tony r Sep 10th, 03, 1:18 PM COPY THAT!!! Martinsr did i forget to mention the neighbor is on ss at 28 do to epilepsy?? i have 2 freinds with epilepsy and they work for a living!! and i have seen this guy roofing his house workin on his van, drinkin cases of beer etc.... i will catch him on video and turn his drunkin butt in to ss (social security) LOOSER!!!!!! P.S. will be movin out in the country soon as i can !! graemlins/hurray.gif
MARTINSR Sep 11th, 03, 12:03 AM Robert, Jim, that is Portuguese, but it is not the Portuguese that my dad speaks. I used translation.com to do it, being I don't speak it. My family (both sides) is from the Azores islands off the coast of Portugal. I think they speak sort of an "ebobonics" Portugese. smile.gif My dads saying sounds like "Ming thaza ving thrrraza" or something like that. His translation may be wrong in that it is a little different and sounds completely different.
