The front one went on no problem.
The rear one is giving me headaches. I've tried it both ways, attaching the brackets to the frame first, then the bumper, and vice-versa. I can't seem to get the damn thing on. The problem seems to be with where the rear license plate mounts. There's a brace there that looks like it should go on the inside the frame, but I try and I try, and all I succeed in doing is scratching my damn frame. Is there something simple that I'm missing to mount this pesky thing? The chrome is in terrible shape, but I want to get it mounted in anticipation of getting the car at least drivable to the muffler shop and to get an alignment.

It's a two man job.

Set the bumper under the car and pick it up so the chrome is facing the pavement. Make sure the brackets are on the outside of the frame, don't line the bolts up just yet. Then pivot the bumper upwards. Then push it towards the front until the bolts line up. Now align it and tighten everything up. I couldn't get the center bracket to fit on my rechrome so I didn't put it on.

On my 66 the brace in the middle was rivited to the bumper. I don't remember the brace mounting inside the frame. I will scan my manual tonight for you.

Rob, that's how it seems to be mounted on my bumper. Could it be that I have a bumper for a '66 that doesn't fit on a '67? (I can't see how this is possible--The bumper was not on the car when I bought it.)

Brian,
I was thinking about taking the bracket off as well, which would mean drilling them out like Rob says they are attached above.

On my 66, there was nothing riveted to the bumper; all brackets and license plate bracket bolt on. Haven't put it all back together yet, so I can't help you there.

66 and 67 rear bumpers are different. 67 has back-up lights in the bumper, 66 does not. My 67 bumper was a bear to install as well. Took 2 people, Several hours, had to modify the brackets to get it to line up properly. Patience is the key word on this project. rb6667
