Hello everyone , I built the 350 in my 69 12 years ago. I have a renewed interest in it. I put a lot of assembly grease in it knowing it would be a while. also oil pressure was brought up with a drill. put mystery oil in it a few years ago. turned it a lot. the tranny was dyno tested. So I figure , what the heck, got her turning over under her own power. just need a gas tank now. maybe I'll bottle feed it. I figure if i can hear it run maybe ill get off my butt and finish. what do you think. (about the engine)

My concern is the oil is off the cam lobes, I would at least pull the cam.
Use assembly lube and Rotella oil. button it up, then fire it off. JMHO

What I would do and what I do every year just after sitting for the winter is change the oil. Take the valve covers off and pour the oil down the pushrod holes to let the oil run over the cam and lifters after sitting. Then pour some in each of the rocker arms. Even after priming with a drill it's hard to get the valvetrain fully oiled. This should get oil pretty much everywhere rather than just running down the rear oil return to the pan.

i agree with MrBill especially if this is a motor you have had sitting that long and hasnt been properly broken in. The cam is more than likely dry, and startup is the most critical time for a rebuild which could cause premature failure, i wouldnt run that without re-lubing the cam which is also just my oppinion
