I have seen more Chevy motors in Fords than Ford motors in Chevy. So whats does that mean? Chevy is better.:D

Lets see someone post that on a Ford site.:D

Those cars have issues with what will fit between the shock towers.

I know for example, that it's all but impossible to put a Cleveland motor in one; or a 429/460, which is all but a direct copy of a big block.

I'd guess the odds of success aren't good.

You can't cut the shock towers. I knew a couple of people that thought they were going to shoehorn a Cleveland in one that way. Both of them, the car literally COLLAPSED. They torched the remains of the sheet metal off of where it had wrapped itself around the motor, and had the car hauled off.

I agree....a stroked windsor motor could make that thing haul butt. I've never been a fan of bastardizing any car. Just one mans opinion :)

I love you! Seriously, i had a 70 mach 1 that i almost had a ls1 in and sold the project. The guy finished it but never fired it yet. A 460 will fit with right headers but i like chevy power better.

Mustangs are great cars even better if it happens to be a fastback 69. Go ford with it, would you drop a 429 into a Chevelle.

I have a 69 Mustang also, I bought it about 6 months ago from a guy moving out of town and finally admitted to himself he was never going to work on it. So he sold it cheap and moved.

I've kicked around doing the BBC thing also, because I have so much BBC stuff. But it just doesnt feel right, the Mustang is going to get a 557 BB FORD.

It doesnt look like much now, but the Mustang is in way better shape than the Camaro was when I started on it.

If I was you I would put a Ford back into the Mustang. To the Ford guys the 69 stang is just as collectable as a 69 Camaro is to the Chevy guys.

ever tried to change the plugs on a BB Mustang? You'll see them where guys used a hole saw on the inner fender to get at them. Those cars are a PITA to work on. I used to work for a F*rd freakazoid guy and all his buddies brought their cars in. That's why they have those little wheels on the toolboxes, y'know?

Tom, yea, I've worked on alot of them.
Heidt makes a weld in front suspension with the Mustang II rack and pinion that puts the springs and shocks in between the A arms instead of in the shock towers. You can take out the shock towers and put in access panels and suddenly you have more room under the hood than you know what to do with. The whole set up is cheaper than buying all new parts to restore the stock front end and converting the drums to disc....plus its lighter and handles better.
