I have my front clip off for what will no doubt be a project that will take a couple of years for me. I'm doing my body work right now. I've never done anything before, but then again, before I got my chevelle I had never worked on a car in my life. So, I'm lookin at all this disgustingness in the front end, and wondering how I should go about cleaning it up? I dont have the engine out, but I'll be rebuilding it after the body work is done. Should I sandblast everything inaccessible to me when the clip is on, then do the rest when the engine is out? Is sandblasting a good idea or will I kick myself in the A$$?
Any suggestions for stuff to do while the clip is off? Also, has anyone made custom inner fender wells? I have a vision of aluminum diamond plate... Well, that's a lot for you guys to chew on for now. Thanks in advance!

Sandblasting will get sand EVERYWHERE I'd avoid that unless you're going to dismantle everything(again not recommended)
I'd just clean things up real good with some Castrol super purple DO NOT USE IT ON ALUMINUM and work on the car a little at a time. That way the project wont sit for years and you possibly lose interest.
Remember dont bite off too much at one time

Why not do what I'm doing. Front clip is off, Take the engine out and out it on a stand, then take the front susp. off and send it off the the sandblasters or better yet, powder coaters. I had my p. coater quote me 20-25 dollars to do each A arm, and 15-20 for a sway bar. YOu can't really beat that. Beats getting sand all over the joint....and the price is right in my case.
