In the restoration shop here at Team Chevelle it lists the color of the housing that bolts to the firewall as semi gloss black. I've got several people insisting that it's supposed to be "gloss black". Now these are first generation Camaro guys for the most part so maybe it was different on Chevelles. Anybody know for sure?

Every original non-AC car I've seen looks like the heater box is painted 60% semi-gloss black. I think the GM "reconditioning black" approximates this pretty well. But please get someone else's opinion first. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Most are a bit on the gloss side. Mine are normally around the 80% area. Not a full gloss but more than the normal 60% on the firewall and parts.

That explains it. Not super glossy but glossier than the firewall. Thanks.

Thanks Micky, I'm painting mine this weekend so that's a big help.
