I'm about ready to send the 71' to the paint shop. I've got new window felt so I decided to go ahead and remove the old before painting....man what a major pain in the butt! So far I've removed the top and bottom rear seat, and both rear side panels and the rear qrt. panels and it still looks like I'm going to have to drop the glass to get to those screws to remove the old felt

I'm beginning to wonder if it was worth it. Somebody please tell me the new felt is worth it!!
Also, I have never messed with window glass before, how much trouble is it to drop it say a half inch and then re-position it?

Somebody please tell me the new felt is worth it!!

If any consulation, I did find the build sheet under the rear seat! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

On my 67 it was a piece of cake to lower the glass. There is a bracket in the lower-center of the door which is held on by a single bolt. Remove the bolt, slide the bracket out and you will be able to crank the window down low enough to get to the screws on the ends of the window felts. Don't loose these screws there kinda special!! NEW68SS - Where did you find the window felts? I've been looking for months on my 70 and I just decided to go to a crafts store and buy some felt and glue it on. I'm talking the little rectangle/square pads that the window is positioned with.

Lee,
I'm talking about the felts mounted on the door panels and on the exterior of the car that sandwich the window.
I have not seen the felt for the window positioners in any aftermarket catalogs either. Your idea sounds as good as any.
