: chevelle frame
Chevykid16 Jan 27th, 02, 4:40 PM hey guys...my 70 chevelle was hit recently (you can read the details in the bench racing forum if you wish)...and the frame was tweaked pretty bad. i have a friend with a 70 elcamino frame sitting in the garage...were the frames the same, and could i rebuild my chevelle on his elco frame?
JWagner Jan 27th, 02, 6:21 PM If your car is a 2 door, the El Camino frame has a 4 inch longer wheelbase and will not fit.
Chevykid16 Jan 28th, 02, 5:56 PM If the el camino frame will not fit, could i just use the front portion, say, from the steering box forward, and weld it to the rest of my undamaged frame?
68racer Jan 29th, 02, 4:06 PM kid,
if the elcamino frame is like a 4 door you can use it. but you will have to cut about a 4 inch section out and weld it back. i used a four door frame under my car. it only took an afternoon to cut it to get it fit.
if you have them out side by side it very clear where you have to cut it. just make sure you check and double check it before you cut it apart.

MAXX2 Jan 31st, 02, 1:34 PM We may have a '69 Chevelle 2 door hardtop frame available. We found this parts car locally ($200.00), and we need only a few parts off of it. Another club member needs the 12 bolt rear. It has 2 good doors with glass, no front fenders, plus the frame looks like it was sandblasted (Not stripped) and painted flat black).
If it fits, you can have it if you take the body with it. It has a dismantlers title.
Hope this helps.

ss396boy Feb 5th, 02, 2:01 AM Such a shame to hear someone bury a 69 Chevelle. This should be a crime in some states.
MAXX2 Feb 5th, 02, 9:31 AM The owner of the auto sales/auto repair shop we bought it from has the salvage title (We paid $200.00).
We have until the end of Feb. to get whatever parts we want off of it, then he will dispose of the rest of the body and frame.
It is to bad, however, this happens. We still hope someone will want the frame and the rest of the body.
You see collector cars that are rebuilt from a shell of nothing, however, this one is in reasonably good shape.
Free body/frame someone?

MAXX2 Feb 5th, 02, 11:37 AM Today was the day I was going to cut out the metal dash from the windshield down to below the bottom dash support. It is in excellent shape! That is really the only part we need. Dick at True Connections in Riverside, CA. has one he will sell for $100.00, however, that seems high to us. Maybe, maybe not?
Another member has purchased the 12 bolt rear end.
It is the complete body, both hardtop doors with glass, standard hood (Which someone wants to buy), no front fenders, and the frame appears to have been sandblasted and painted flat black (Not a very good paint job). It has the column shift steering column, all the suspension parts (Unbolted=someone wants to buy them). The rear passenger quarter panel has been partially straightened, however, it is in good shape, and some minor rust around the rear window. The radiator support probably won't fit a '70?
We don't want to see it go to the boneyard either, therefore, we would love to see someone in this club have it.
NO DOLLARS! Just get us the dash panel we need.
I'm going to take pictures this morning with our digital camera, and can email them to you.
By the way, if you want to email us, use our Ebay email=ch1655@prodigy.net and I can attached the pictures to it.
I can also post the pictures to this site (If someone tells us how) when the 24 Hours Of Tech gets up and running again.
We really hope someone gets this car! And please, if you do take it, restore it, don't part it out!

MAXX2 Feb 17th, 02, 5:22 PM Thanks to Chevykid16 for saving the '69 parts car. We got our metal dash, Cable Bright got the 12 bolt he needed (Plus Extras), and Chevykid16 has a new frame for his '70
Isn't this what this Team Chevelle Club is all about?

Don't do that!!! Give Sloan a call. I am sure he can set you up with a deal on a complete, straight frame. He is in Hesperia. Nice guy, Good parts, Good price, Sweet train set! When he describes his stuff you can count on his description being accurate.

I bought my 67 shell from him.
Nevermind, I see you are all set.
