I have a 1969 Chevelle that I want to mount 1968 bowtie embossed mirrors on (I like the way they look). I need to mount one on each door (LH and RH). The 1969 mirrors were handed because they had a rectangular mirror. The question is...

Were LH and RH mirrors an option in 1968?

If so I am assuming that the mirror bases are symmetrical (not handed) and will mount to either door. I cannot find LH and RH part numbers for 1968 mirrors which is what prompted this question. There is only 1 part number listed and before I order two of them I wanted to check this out.

The 68 mirrors were round and NOT handed.
If you place the right mirror too far back, you won't be able to rotate it in far enough to see down the right side of the car.
