: Reproduction bumpers

I need front and rear bumpers for my 70 Malibu. They are slightly banged up so I don't think they are good candidates for rechroming. Has anyone heard of Dynacorn. I found a place on the net that sells front and rear bumpers for $169. This seems like a good price if these Dynacorn bumpers are of good quality.

Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with any other brand of repro bumpers?

Not personal experience but I've heard some comments that the repro bumpers are made of thinner material than the originals. I guess the general rule applies: original parts are ALWAYS superior to reproductions. It might cost a little more, but having your originals rechromed would seem the better route in the end.

I bought a repro 69 bumper last spring at Carlisle. It is not show quality, but it is pretty good. Certainly better shape than what was on.

Bought a repro 70 rear bumper from ground up....fit is good chrome is good....I guess its not so bad. Better than the re-chromed one I bought for my 69...what a mess that one was. Material does seem thinner than the original but I'm not going to measure. Albert

Went in and checked out the Dynacorn site. I am also looking for a 70 Chevelle front bumper. Could not find the prices on the site. Did you get a quote from a dealer?

I bought a reproduction rear bumper last year. I looks really good. Could be a bit thinner than the NOS but not so much that it looked cheap. The chrome is also not as deep as an NOS one but it is of the quality you would see on new production chrome that is on the cars coming out of Detroit now.

My guess is that Dynacorn is manufacturing parts and supplying them to the reproduction distributors around the US. I can imagine that there are a lot of companies making them so if you decide on a reproduction the price is probably the price.

Let me know who you got the price from. I might end up picking one up for myself. That is unless I find one at Spring Carlisle!

Got the price from the below link. They seemed to have pretty good pricing on a lot of other items I'll be needing too. If you do order post a message on your experience... I'd be interested in your opinion.

Spoke to Goodmark recently. Was advised that they will be offering GM Restoration Bumpers for 70 Chevelles by summer. Might be worth the wait.

There a company called bumperboyz in California that rechrome or you can buy outright. They do real good work. If you have a problem they exchange real quick. Do a internet search on that name and you should find it. I exchanged mine 2 years ago and it cost me 220.$ each. Buy them outright and their 265.$ Thay travel around to the major swap meets so that can save you some shipping.

Red2rider,
Don't get us started on Bumperboyz! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif Do a search on them on this board and you'll see what I mean. If their chrome was any thinner, it wouldn't exist! If you managed to get a good piece from them, I say,"God bless you!"
