My car is in gettting the body work done and will be ready for paint in a week.. i want a really dark blue color but i have two options.. a dark blue metallic or a blue and black candied together.. is the candy worth an extra $ 500 or will the dark blue metallic look essentially the same??? a pic of candy style paint on a chevelle

I'd go with the dark blue metallic............and go as far as useing the original stock factory color used in 1970 for several reasons. The color looks right for the car. It's supposed to be that color. People will recognize it and say "I had one just.....". It's easily matched and it takes away the bizillon options you have for paint color. You can put on the white or black deck stripes too.
I would stay away from the pearls and candies just because they are very hard to match if you need a small repair. Just my opinon.

Yes a candy will pop more, your putting down a silver or gold base under the semi-transparent color, which out in the sun really sparkles. Some of the new colors come close,go to the paint store and look at some chips. Candy's are also hard to spray and your painter really needs to know what he's doing to make it look good. Mike
