Without a build sheet, how can you tell if a 70 chevelle is a original ss or a clone. If everthing on the car is all ss parts.

Without some form of original documentation there is no way to really prove it is an SS. These days even documents are being forged and are not always what they seem to be.

I have a 1969 ElCamino SS color code 72/72 with all the BB stuff and disc brakes but no build sheet. But it dosen't matter to me anyway it was going to be an SS anyway.:D

According to, Chevrolet by the Numbers 1965-69 it says,
a 1969 Chevelle with Paint code's [72] or [76] is "Special order for SS packages only".......Don.
If your 1969 El Camino SS, has color code 72/72 on the original trim tag,
I would guess, that your car is a real 1969 El Camino Super Sport, even w/o the buildsheet..................Don.

What he said, though I think the Protect O Plate might indicate if it's an authentic SS or not.

With that said treat all SS cars as clones unless proven otherwise.
