1972 Chevelle 350/th350

I bought my Chevelle about 6 months ago. Though it's a nice car, the previous owner has it setup for more of 1/4 mile runs than what I wouls like to use it for.

The front coils have been cut. The front sits low enough to run 165/80r15's 9 (volkswagen tires) and still the top of the tire is vovered by the fender of about an inch or 2 (give or take).

I'm not so into the contrast that poses my car right now with 295/50/15's in the rear, with the little puny tires in the front...sorta super chicken...:-)).

I've been told that there is something I could buy at auto patrs place to wedge into the coils to lift them up for more clearance for bigger tires, fear of rubbing the hedders on the ground, on and on.

Has anyone used these aforementioned "wedges"?

I believe the car has no drop spindles...it's stock.

Is this safe with these wedges?

Ok, if not, can some one direct me to some coils that will accomodate 255/40/17's (thats what I plan on using real soon). Links to these coils would be appreciated if possible.

the wedges that you put between the coils to raise them ? useless if it's that low ? and those spring spacers are realy only good for strut type front ends, (I wouldn't use them anyway) on a chevelle the front springs are pretty easy to change and cheep enough, first thing to consider is, are you ever going to go big block in the future ? cos you'll have to change them again.

Thanks for the fast reply.

No. I am going to stay with hi-po 350 that my Chevelle currently has. And if I do ever replace with another engine, it will be a small block.

Thanks for the info on those wedges.

Do you use any specific parts company that I may look into?

post a question on "pro touring" those are the guys to ask, but "moog" "edelbrock" and "eibach" are all good brands, I would probably go for a stock height or 2 inch lowered at the most, change all 4 cos the backs are so easy to change you might as well.
