It must not be to profitable to run these tracks they are few and far in between maybe if they stopped the payouts and just gave throphys, gambling could work too since casinos are allowed in now. If you think gambling does not go on think again in the crowds you have people taking lanes for $100 pops per race so why not let the tracks make some money?

I checked those sites and it looks like there are 3 drag tracks in the whole state, I hated it when the NHRA stopped coming to Baton Rouge.

Anyway the way I see it is it's better to have tracks make money than have no track at all.

Where are you located? State capitol is getting a facelift. every friday they have the coca cola series. Bracket racing is just trophies but nonelectronics gets payouts, but you have to put up more money to race in that class. They have a few big races also, just look at the site for info on whats going on. They have a new owner now and he is really going to turn this place around. I grew up at that track I live a few miles away and hear the cars running at my house. I think thats how I got into this.

There are five tracks in LA: State Capitol (Baton Rouge), No Problem (Belle Rose), Red River (Shreveport), Twin City (Monroe) and Louisiana (Eunice). I've raced at all of them and prefer the first three. State Capitol has been operating very well since the new owner took over this past year. The turnouts have been good and they are attracting big events back.
Other tracks not to far from N.O. are: Hub City (Hattisburg), Mobile and Gulfport.

Actually the insurance is what is forcing them to close or go 1/8th mile. Here in Michigan all the smaller tracks have either closed or gone 1/8th in the last 10 years. Some are 1/8th mile all but saturdays when they do 1/4mile. Bill
