I've ordered a pre-primed fender for my son's car. I'll ask the place that's sending the fender what type of primer it has, but I have a feeling that they might not know because they might just buy and sell parts.

Do any of you have experience with these things? I don't know much about paint, but do remember reading that different types don't always work well together. Not particularily brand names, but like you shouldn't spray lacquer over an enamel primer.

What do you think would be a safe type of paint to use? The car's a white 93 Prizm, if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

Almost all the new parts out now have a baked on sealer on them ,you can put any kind of paint over it you want.I usually sand the part with 320 on a DA then red scotchbrite where I couldn't get with the sander.Use a light grey sealer and shoot your paint.Base clear is probably easiest to paint or you can put single stage on it,doesn't need a clearcoat but is harder to spray. Talk to the guy where your gonna buy your paint from and he can steer you in the right direction. Mike
