Just wanted some opinions I am thinking of trying a metal bondo spreader inthat it would clean up nicer and keep a edge, but the plastic ones sure are popular. Which ones do you guys like?

Plastic, I have a piece of 180 PSA paper stuck to a metal beam by my box that I "tune up" the edge on my spreaders.

I use plastic spreaders and a very flexable three inch wide metal "spachula" like you use for dry wall to mix my fillers. I clean both and the board with lacquer thinner each time and they are spotless for the next use.

I just like the flexiblity of the plastic to answer your original question.

Thanks once again MRTSNR! Nice to get back to learning instead of arguing! ;)

what works better than a piece of 180 grit? simple cardboard, run the spreader straight up and down in parallel motion with the edge, just make sure you pull any strings off created by the heat of friction. Your spreader edge will be perfect. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'll try it. Nothing like free info that costs nothing to try! :D

I should have explained the cardboard tune up this way, run the spreader on the cardboard with a few fast strokes like you are trying to cut the cardboard with the speader, you'll be amazed at how perfect an edge it will make. graemlins/beers.gif

Cardboard trick sounds slick, soaking them in a coffee can in lacker thinner is fast clean up too.also heard using sm peice of auto glass for a board.Anything to make it easier... :D
