Just curious with the price of 2 doors cars soaring. Is it possible to convert a 4 door to 2 door? Extensive welding doesn't bother me. Is the wheeel base the same? I'm talking of 1966 and 1967 models.

i think the wheelbases are differnt that is a TON of work but i guess you could do anything if you really set ur mind to it i know somebody on here was droping a roof on his car and some huge major work it was sweet

Rear floor pans are different...and then you have that post to deal with for most cars and the roof is longer I think....find a 2 door. LOL

Thanks everyone. It just seems that cherry 4 doors are still around. Still may give it a try.

I once saw a 71 at a car show, that caught my attention. It took a minute to figure it out, but it was originally a 4 door. The 2 back door were welded shut, and the jams and seams were filled in, real smooth job. A set a bucket seats were put up front so passengers could get into the back seat. I liked it because it was diffrent, or you could say "customized".

Instead, why not get a custom top and make it a 4 dr. convertible? Very unique :D

When I was 17 or 18 I saw a 55-57 one of those years that was originally a 4 door and some one cut the entire rear doors and frame section out and welded it back together. It was a short 2 door. Not sure if it still had a back seat. It was pretty cool but it would seem to be a ton of work.

At the other former Chevelle club gathering we saw a 66 Elcamino with a topper that had the portion behind the seats and rear window cut out and a bench seat put in the space. I was factory looking.

Go for it it would be a conversation piece.

1964-1967 models used the same wheelbase for all models. However, the roofs and quarters are vastly different, it would be a huge chore to try to modify a 4-door to a 2-door. It would be much easier and more cost effective to just buy a 2-door.
