I own a '67 454 with two edelbrock fours. I cant seem to get the car to fire without shooting starter fluid in the primaries. I looked and noticed no gas in the sight glass between the fuel pump and carbs. I'm thinking its the fuel pump not delivering but I'm a bit of a mechanical newbie. Should I move to an electric pump? thanks

I would stick with a mechanical pump. Electric pumps are a bit tricky to install and locate for someone thats new to this. Might just be a weak pump.

Sounds like your pump is bleeding back, but there should still be fuel in the bowls? Your float level could also be too low and there is no fuel in the bowls, and that is what starts the engine when you initially pump the gas.
