Update: I figured out why I have a bigger gap on the drivers front then I do on the passenger front. The reproduction fenders that I purchased from OPG are not exact. The Drivers side is about an inch longer than the other. Guess I should of kept the originals and just did the minor work too them (figured go with new metal -- live and learn!)

An inch? That's hugh, how could they make a fender an inch off? Hey, front fenders on an elky or station wagon are different than the Chevelle. I don't know what the difference is, anybody out there know? Just thinking maybe you got one Chevelle fender and one elky fender.

A 70-72 elky fender looks kinda like a 69 chevelle fender. Has a body line on the bottom and also has a flare around the wheel well lip.
If you bolted an ekly fender up to a chevelle you would KNOW it.

An inch!! If the fender was an inch wider the hood would be hitting it. If the fender was an inch longer you would be hitting the door. You would have needed to slide the door all the way back but then the gap on the quarter would be nothing, probably overlapping...Eric

I can't believe one fender is an inch longer. Before you pull your hair out, cross measure the engine compartment.

If your rad support is over a half an inch or so the fronts of the fenders will look like one is longer than the other.

Good point, I suggested this to another member awhile back, rad support shifted. I guess I assumed he measured the length of the fender with a tape measure to determine it's an inch longer

I'll have to talk with the body shop that is now looking at it. He said he measured the one fender and its about an inch longer than the other. My radiator support is off - the "new" body guy thinks the "old" body guy had to shift it so the new fender would bolt up. All my lines at the doors are darn near perfect on both sides.

Just not sure if I want to spend the money at the moment to get to the bottom of it...
