I am trying to install the glass of the rear driver's side door..

It just won't fit.
(I can get it to go into the rail that is close to the driver's side, but the other one just won't go in..)

I can see that it would fit in.. But i just can't seem to get it in... HELP!!!!

I searched every page in that book..
Didn't find anything..
It helped me with the blinker though. A LOT!

I'll E-Mail Doug (the guy who sent me the window) and ask him... Good idea..

Thanks.

Hey Shai
Man that was some party over there huh? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I needed Jim's directions to get that out, I too had troubles getting it out.
I don't have the instructions any more so I'm going off memory. The rear top (rounded corner) of the window needed to go down while the front needed to go up to remove the glass.
So....to put it back in, rotate the glass (rear down/front up) about 45 to 90 degrees and see if you can get it to start to go in (from standing outside the car). Then when it's in the door slot, rotate the glass to it's normal orientation. You may have to loosen the guides or channels to allow for the angled entry.

The other way would be to make smaller pieces out of it and install them one at a time. Oh, wait, that's what the problem was in the first place. Just playing wit cha.
I'll look at home in some of my manuals to see if I had that wrong.

Hi Doug!
I sent you an E-Mail http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I already got the window in.. (It's placed inside the door, but it only rolls half way up because the back side is not in the rail and it get it stuck..)

Do i need to loosen up the rear rail?

Chaos, I just removed both of my front sides and then reinstalled them

I used the Fisher 69 body manual. The illustrations are well done and this dummy was able to do it.

If you don't have a body manual, try to follow these steps.

Make sure both front and rear up stops are removed and both of the alignment guides are out as well.

Put the forward end in first then the aft end second. There are notches in the door to accomdate the rollers. Do not try to put the rollers into the tracks until the window is all the way in and you are able to rais it by hand with a level attitude.

Lower the rail all the way and raise the glass up inside the door to get the rollers in front and rear tracks.

Raise the rail to the access holes and postion the glass so the bolts can be inserted into the rails. Install the keep nuts.

Put the up stops back in place and set your aligment.

Good luck.

Hey Chaos,69fever here, and if your sure you have the right glass, try this.If you can't get the glass in both channels by trying to go from inside of the door, then try going from the outside of the door.I'm a glass man and have been for the last 20 years and I can't remember how those go in but I know it goes one way or another.Try losening the bolts that hold both the front and rear channels till you get the glass in and in position and working properly, then tighten them. Also, the stops you are talking about are located inside the door and are probably bolted to the door. They stop the glass from going up or down too far. Also,on the inside of the door is a channel for the regulator arm to ride in known as a third arm and it faces towards the outside of the door,in other words, backwards. There are 2 bolts holding it in and it's only about 6 inches long.Try disconecting this as it may make installation easier. After you get the window in the correct position and operating, then hook the third arm back up.Hope this helps you. After all you helped me when I couldn't figure out how to upload my picks.Good luck.If you still can't get it e-mail me and we'll work it out for you.

I don't have a scanner here but will take the manual to work and do it there. I'll try to email it to you this afternoon.

The "Up stops" are what keeps the window from being roll up and out of the tracks.
