Well, i'm in need of a slip yoke for my 71 chevelle. It has a stock 12 bolt rear (1310 u joints) and a turbo 400 trans. Is it ok just to order a slip yoke from say ground up for that car? What is the deal with all the measurements and such? If it is a stock build, do i need to measure and get a different length or not? Thanks guys. Oh, and btw, this is my daily driver and i need it asap so i'm going to stick with the 1310 joints now. Later i may go to the bigger ones but until then, i can baby it if i have to.

If you order the yoke for that car you will be fine. They only offered one for the chevelle. I believe there might have been others for truck applications but if the driveshaft length is stock the one Ground up has is right. As far as the 1310 joints don't worry about them. If they are good condition they will hold up to any power you throw at them. I had 1310 joints in my car at 3400 lbs going 10.30's with a trans brake.

You can probably get that yoke cheaper from a local driveshaft shop, that's what I did. They are all made by Dana and/or Spicer as far as I know.

....and probably better if Dana / Spicer than what you'll get from Year One unless they are Spicer as well
