Guys, I have some pretty nice metal inner fenders, they do have some surface rust and a bit of scale here and there. No holes that I can see. Whats the best thing to sand with? I know a DA is out of the question, but what do you suggest? a Drill and a ???redec??? wheel?

Thanks Shay

I usually chemical strip them followed by sanding and blasting on the rusted areas.

I used aircraft stripper, a 6" wire cup brush on a grinder, and sand blasted to get mine down to bare metal.

Did mine with a wire wheel on a drill and primed them with eastwoods self etching primer. Finished them off with underhood black. Came out perfect!!

I would media blast them, the key in this is to use a good blast service,to much p.s.i while blasting can heat up the metal and warp it.Then here are some options. por-15 or powder coat or paint or rubberized undercoat or any combination of these.

That aircraft stripper is some MEAN Stuff, I love it. Used it on alot of projects. I never wear gloves, it doesnt bother if it gets ya, but if it gets on you when you have oil or something on you, baaad news.
