: Attn. Fiberlglass bumper owners!
IGOTTA71 Jul 5th, 01, 9:34 PM I will soon be the owner of a pair of VFN front and rear bumpers for my 69 Chevelle. I'm not sure wether I should paint them body color, or silvery "chrome". I've heard that VHT makes very good silvery "chrome" paint, anyone ever use it? Opinions would be great, pics would be nice too. Thanks.

cjlandry Jul 5th, 01, 9:53 PM I was thinking of getting a front and just painting it black.
I really like the looks of cars with the chrome blacked out. I might do my trim too.

IGOTTA71 Jul 5th, 01, 9:54 PM Hmmm, that might look cool. It would really make my grill stand out.
cjlandry Jul 5th, 01, 10:37 PM I was looking for pics of Wayne Scott's car, but I can't find them. The window trim is blacked out and it looks great!
edit: I found a pic of his car from our get together in Houston in July of 2000. Here's a pic. http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/wayne.jpg
Notice the black trim around the windshield and the black headlight bezels.
Of course the bumpers are chrome, but I think the other black parts look really good.
When I do my front bumper, I plan to paint it black and if I don't like it I can still paint it to match the car.

SS540 Jul 7th, 01, 3:47 AM Jason & C.J.,
I have a set of fiberglass bumpers that I plan on painting with PPG Aluminum Tone (DMD 690) with a clear coat. Check out the April 2000 issue of Car Craft magazine for an article called "The True Cost of Paint & Body" for a picture of a fiberglass bumper painted this color. Looks really nice. I also like how they painted the '71 grille. I may experiment with this on my grille. I might try the aluminum look on my trim also.

COPO427 Jul 7th, 01, 10:51 AM Damn, I though I was the only person thinking about blacking out their trim. I got the idea from those 80's Monte Carlo SS's, and now that I've seen it, it does look awesome on Chevelles. I was also thinking about painting the trim body colour. I'm just no good at making decisions, I can't decide what to do.

cjlandry Jul 7th, 01, 11:27 AM Bummer. I don't have any issues of CC before they put your car on the cover.
Any pics of this color on the web?

SS540 Jul 8th, 01, 5:12 AM Sorry, I don't have any posters of my car, but I'm flattered that you like it. There may be a shot of the El Camino on Car Craft's website.
