I have decided that the damage to the frame on my recently purchased 67 SS resto project is beyond my comfort level. I have located another frame for a great price. Are all 67 Frames the same?? or was the SS frame something special?

Do all frames have location for my clutch cross-shaft mount pre-drilled?

I know of nothing special on 67 Chevelle frames that are under SS modle cars.
just add on stuff you'll have from your old frame. BB eng mounts. big fuel line, 12 bolt rear, BB springs and rear braces that mount on the control arm mounting bolts.

The only thing I know about is not a SS/Malibu thing but a manual/auto transmission thing.

The bracket that mounts the z-bar to the frame was only installed on factory manual cars, so you'll have to add it to an automatic frame if you are using a manual trany.

Aren't convertible frames different than the others?

And the clutch linkage cross-shaft bracket is welded to the frame, not bolted. Therefore not predrilled (68 and later are bolt-on, I believe).

Convertible frames are different. Convertible and elcamino frames are boxed and hardtops are not. I believe stationwagons are also not boxed.

I have heard that since 67 was a transition year, cars produced early in the year had different frames than those produced in later years. supposedly the later ones had frames that had some features of the 68 and later frames.

maybe someone has heard this and knows something about it.

I think the main differences were related to the rear end. I think some 67s got the narrow 64-67 rear end while some got the wider 68-72 rear ends. I don't know if this effected the suspension attachment points or not.

If there are any differences, it would probably only be minor. I'm sure at worst, this would only effect some minor things that are attached to the frame.
