I’ve been watching the first season on DVD, trying to see what all the hype is all about. So far, I don't see it. Besides the fact that 1/3 of the hour show is commercials (ant the end of the hour show my DVD player shows it's played ~41 minutes of video), those CTU guys are losers. More agents killed protecting Bauer's wife and kid, the loser with the sniper rifle at the mall, all of it. And every time things start to slow down they just throw in another mole or bad guy (Dennis Hopper does make a good bad guy, though).

Do the next seasons get any better?

It's more in the "real time" format of the show that sets it apart from other shows, I think, that attracts fans. I love it. Doesn't end with everyone sitting around over a beer, case solved in an hour. :)

When it first came out (5 years ago?) it was pretty innovative - the 'real time' action was a whole new way to do a show and I think that's what attracted so many viewers. Now it's been done by all sorts of shows so it probably doesn't stand out as much as it did back then.

I was addicted the first 2 seasons... when I missed an episode part-way through season 3, I felt like I broke out of prison :D It's good to be free. I avoid it now like a reformed coke addict... don't want to get hooked again.

The first season is the slowest moving of all the seasons. Watch season 2 or 3 to and u will see what a good show it is. It is the best show on television.

It's better than most things on TV. I started watching it becuase the girlfriend is addicted to it. She thinks it's REAL. Some of the high-tech' gee-wizz stuff annoys the hell out of me. And some of the cast, like Cloey and the midget Bilbo Baggins guy bother me. If I didn't have DVR, I wouldn't watch it.

The only good part is the John Wayne like attitude of the main Jack Bauer guy. He smacks people around, and that's always a plus.

My wife dragged me into watching season 4 with her. I enjoyed it. Good characters and good acting. You have to accept that it's just entertainment because it can be pretty far fetched at times.

Best Buy had every season on sale last week for $20/season so we bought all 5. After having the whole season on DVD, there's no way I could watch it every week.

I caught the first season when it originally aired and up till now, I havent missed a single episode since. So far im batting a thousand on this show. Its 24 and the Simpsons/ Family Guy/ American Dad, animation sunday, I always stick to. They are the only shows I really try to catch every week. About the only time I watch TV anyways.

Cant wait for the new season to begin in 2 weeks.

Ok, just finished the first season on DVD. What a crap show! How many moles in their organization can they write into a season? I'll bet there are more in the following ones. And CTU? If that were a real agency they'd all be dead, as slow as they work and as lax as their security is.

I'm done. No more of this for me. Too many other shows to try. I'm glad some of you like it, I know it's won some awards and all, but not my style...
