: Do you ever fall in love with a body style ?
jfman Jan 1st, 07, 4:35 AM Have you ever fallen in love with a car that you used to have no interest in ?
I used to not care much for any chevelle besides the 70-72's but I'm starting to fall in love with the 66-67's I love the way the rear quarters curve and the back end is very nicely done. What a nice car! The lines are very "classy", a little less sporty but very classy.
I seem to do this all the time. Some cars a few year ago I would not like at all then I will see a very clean example and star developing a taste for them.
Just like the 79-85 fox body mustangs. I used to hate the way those cars looked ! Now I am very much in love with those cave-in headlights :D
Anybody else experienced a sudden newfound love for a car you used to not like ?
rbwjr325 Jan 1st, 07, 4:49 AM Been like that with 66s for 35 years:beers:
dreis454 Jan 1st, 07, 7:46 AM I love the way the rear quarters curve and the back end is very nicely done.
Had a GF like that once..........
GRN69CHV Jan 1st, 07, 8:04 AM I just love bulges (in the right place) and curves.
Derek69SS Jan 1st, 07, 9:17 AM 73-77 Chevelles... I hated them for years until I saw a really nice one.
38-24-36.............oh,you mean car body styles........nevermind :D
bad66 Jan 1st, 07, 9:53 AM I 've liked the 66 chevelle since I was 14, now 40 and have had one since that time. I think it comes with age 'cause now I have an appretiation for all muscle cars, ford, dodge or whatever, and thats a definate 180 for me.
Keith Tedford Jan 1st, 07, 9:59 AM After 37 years, the '69s have sort of grown on me.
cuisinartvette Jan 1st, 07, 10:00 AM I always liked the quarter lines on the 67s also....I saw a freinds 70 Raunch-ero the other day, after looking at it had some awesome rear quarter and fender lines. Wouldnt buy one but it still looked pretty cool .
Just dont see interesting body lines today. Everything is rounded off and bland so just about anything old I dig.
I never liked the C4 Corvettes much til I owned one and really grew to like the sleek shape and the fact they are a ton of fun for the money, cant beat it. Hate working on them though. :(
Robinls5 Jan 1st, 07, 10:40 AM I have seen many body styles that I just love, and would love to ride. I have also seen some nice cars in my lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob
driver Jan 1st, 07, 11:19 AM Use to love the 70 chevelle's but now love the 68's..
68bye Jan 1st, 07, 12:37 PM I've always loved the 68 Chevelle, but for whatever reason, could never latch on to one until recently. (my "unicorn" I guess) Now that I have one, I'm not letting it go. The other two cars on my list are the 68-70 Dodge Charger, (finally got another 70) and the last on my list of cars I'll have before I die, is a 32 Ford highboy, flathead, stick, red steel wheels and wide whites. Paint will be flat black with yellow and orange flames. The quintessencial hotrod.
mmurphy77 Jan 1st, 07, 1:13 PM I've ALWAYS been a GM man but will never stop loving the lines of a Chrysler E-body ('Cuda/Challenger) I think they are dimensionally perfect.
Alwhite00 Jan 1st, 07, 1:16 PM I like 66/67 Chevelles and the 70 Cuda's - My 70 is growing on me though. :)
LK
novaderrik Jan 1st, 07, 1:22 PM 73-75 Monte Carlos- when they had the proper round headlights. but the 74 they got the taillights just right. throw on a set of slots or NASCAR style steel wheels, and it just don't get no better.
i also like the 70-72 Montes just about as much, with no real year preference, since all they really changed was marker lights and grille from year to year.
tanaman Jan 1st, 07, 2:01 PM I grew up around Chevelles from 66-72 (my Brother cut alot of them up for circle track race cars:( ). The 66's have always been my favorites, there is just something about the sleek, smooth shape of them that appeals to me.
pdq67 Jan 1st, 07, 2:24 PM I dearly love the old Raymond Lowey '53 Stude Coupe!

I really like 66 Toronados too
..and for some reason,I don't know why..I am starting to like the old Jaguar XJS cars
OrrieG Jan 1st, 07, 2:57 PM 58 Chevy Impalas. Hated them when I was younger because they were so much bigger and baroque than the tri-fives. Now I would love to have one as a cruiser w/ 348 tripower setup.
forcd ind Jan 1st, 07, 5:39 PM brittany spears before she had all those babys
Bowtie-72 Jan 1st, 07, 6:43 PM I really like the 70-72 Chevelle, but I think My #1 is the '74 Camaro. Had the sloped front end, square rear window, and teardrop tail lights. I had a black one. With the right rake, I think it looks the meanest.
Next would be:
66 Nova
66 Chevelle
69 Vette
65 Vette
60's Mustangs
Most Muscle Mopars
etc.
I just like cars.
Jim Mac Jan 1st, 07, 6:49 PM I really didnt like the new mustangs too much, but me and the wifes going to be getting a car in the next couple of months. 1st choice was going to be a nissan frontier 4 door. but there was this darn ice blue 07 mustang for 18999 at the dealer, even had 3 Pedals! (5 speed). we got to looking at it and I hate to say it I maybe a mustang owner in a couple of months. Jim
138car Jan 1st, 07, 7:00 PM When I was in High School I really hated Trans AMs, I now really like round headlight second gen TAs.
55Redneck Jan 1st, 07, 7:37 PM I never cared for the G-3 Chevelles or their Buick, Olds, Pontiac conterparts. Then a few days after totaling the wife's 79 Malibu (not my fault ;) ) I came across a deal on a 75 Olds 442. New paint, new tires, rebuilt T-350 with shift kit, solid running 350 Olds, swivel buckets (absolutely loved those), and console. $1300 Canadian and all I had to do is put most of the interior back in and replace the belt and hoses under the hood. It was my daily driver for 10 years (40 miles each way to work and back) and I raced it in street tire class at my local drag strip every second weekend. It wasn't fast by any means but for an almost bone stock mid 70's 4000+lbs boat with me in it, it would run 15.8's-15.9's all day long at 83-85 mph through the traps. That ain't to bad. Back in 2000 I had the itch to buy my dream car project and a local guy had been bugging me for months to sell it to him so I did and picked up my 55 project car. I wish I would have sold it to someone else though because this guy totally butchered my baby.
Here's the only 2 pics of it I have online. The first pic was taken at Super Chevy in Seattle at SIR (now Pacific Raceway) and the other pic is in my driveway when I still lived on the coast near Vancouver BC after a rainout at Mission Raceway.

I really miss that car. :(
I used to dream about having a 68 or 69 El Camino, but then I started really liking the '66. look at me now - 'cept I am really starting to dig the dash of the 64-65
Old, fat, bald guy Jan 1st, 07, 9:34 PM the only vehicle I have changed my mind on was the 94 Ram pick up..... I always thought they were the ugliest thing on 4 wheels (and still do) with that chrome beak out front..... when Dodge offered it with the body colored "sport" grill, I changed my mind about the truck, but only with the body colored grill....... other than that, I do not think many cars are ugly, and the ones I do think were ugly, still are (matador, edsel, that slope back seville..... but not many others)
depley Jan 1st, 07, 11:55 PM I love the 63-67 Corvette. No matter where I see one, it still makes me drool
I love the 65 Chevy Impala, one of the truely great designs on a big car.
I love the 68 Chevelle. Right car at the right time.
I love a 55 Nomad. Something about it just looks right.
I love the 67-68 Firebird (more than the camaro)
I hate to admit it but I loved the 70 Boss Mustangs with rear window slats.

Yes, the Mustang that I now own. The year was unknown at the time, but I was racing a Mustang of the same body style and I blew my Camaro up. Since then I hated those body styles (Mustang), then one day I went by a car lot and seen a red Mustang sitting on the little car turntable thingy. So, I test drove it and drove it home later that day. I've liked them ever since.
joes66 Jan 2nd, 07, 12:35 AM I just love the 1969 chevelles.I have had 3 and sold them all.I have a 66 ss chevelle right now and I like it but I am into the 69 more.I am putting the 66 together right now and I keep asking myself is this really what I want to do or find another 69.There is just something about the 69 body style that I love,The first 69 was pretty rotten in 1983 so I just gave it away and the 2nd was totaled in front of my house and the last I sold to start a business. Now I have the fever for a 69 again and will have to have one pretty soon..
thepoz68 Jan 2nd, 07, 12:38 AM 73-77 Chevelles... I hated them for years until I saw a really nice one.
I agree...
PaPa Johns 77 Jan 2nd, 07, 3:06 PM Yes I fell in love with a body style 36 years ago. But after three pregnancys and 4 kids the body stye changed!:D

So, say had a Chevelle, whould they be Chevettes?
Seriously, man, as long as she's young enought to not have tailfins, I think you're good to go.

She was standing right next to me when I typed it! She just laughed then smacked me in the back of the head then continued dusting!:D She knows I'll never trade her in. I personally love all Chevelle/ElCamino body styles. I didn't cre for the 73-77 body style until I saved my 77 from the crusher. Just happened to pull up to the Wifes neices house just as the tow truck was about to tow it for the city. I negociated and bought it from the nieces boyfriend for 300 dollars and paid the driver to tow it t my house. I hated it at first but as I continued to work on her I saw a beauty to her lines!
Ricks70ss Jan 2nd, 07, 11:45 PM stand a chevelle on its tail lights. and its has the figure of a girl!!!! well maybe a big girl. thanks 72bb. RICK
Chris R Jan 3rd, 07, 3:53 AM I have a difficult time picking out my favorite year. Despite the fact I have a 66. Its not my only favorite year. I like them all, gets hard to pick a favorite with so many sharp looking cars from other year being modified and restored.
Use to love the 70 chevelle's but now love the 68's.. Yep 68's are my favorite and you had the perfect one for me. Probably til I croak I will be saying I should have bought that car.......
I've always loved the 68 Chevelle, but for whatever reason, could never latch on to one until recently. (my "unicorn" I guess) Now that I have one, I'm not letting it go.
I like the 68's and while I have gotten a later model, I can't seem to get excited about it. I have finally decided another 68 is in order and the feaux 70(71 actually) is about to be kicked to the curb.
68 chevelles and 69 Camaros are my favorites. In the MOPAR world though it is the 68-70 Roadrunner/Superbees that catch my eye.
I've ALWAYS been a GM man but will never stop loving the lines of a Chrysler E-body ('Cuda/Challenger) I think they are dimensionally perfect.
The reason for the dimensions being "almost" perfect is the fact that they have similar body lines to the 69 Camaro :p They are just a little swollen :D

Isn't "old blue" in your sig a 68???? Or don't own that one anymore:sad:
