hi
i just started my 327 today, i have a hydrolic Comp Cam. some pushrods are rotating. i painted a mark on my pushrods to check this. there are some lazy/slow ones and one barley moved if any. now i know that if your push rods rotate your lifters are spinning. this motor has has gone threw 3 crane cams. i dont have the money to build it again. whats the best way to make sure my lifters are rotating, and if there not what do i have to do to get them moving. i ran the car for about 30 seconds today and saw some were not spining and shut it off to avoid damage to my cam.
any information would be great
thanks!!

WTF is going on with starting engines on New Years Eve and having problems?
I think we need a drink :beers: Sorry to hear of your problems I'm having them too, see my post on no oil to rockers. :D
How did you adjust your lifters? you can loosen them so they spin a little easier and see what happens.

I think if your pushrods are spinning your adjustment is too tight. Mine don't and never have on any of my Chevy motors. Maybe I am wrong, but my pushrods still don't spin.

ya if your lifters are rotating then your pushrods are rotating, same as you i have checked this as well and with the slower rotating push rods i replaced the lifters and the pushrods that did not turn i replaced the lifters too.
and this seems to take care of the problem. its alittle extra work but well worth it.
any more i double check new lifters to make sure they are convexed by putting two together and making sure they rock back and forth as i hold them up to the light to see the amount of space that is there when you do rock them. it might be my eye sight or not but sometimes i have seen lifters with very little round( convexed) base and i just took them back to the parts house and said i was not happy with the quality and wanted replacements.
there has just been to many flat cams out there reported and i think some of it falls on the quality of work anymore since quanity of parts produced really seems to be the way for everything made and the workmanship just isnt there like it use to be many years ago but then again i just might be imagining things and its all in my head.
but anyway it is i just do my part to make sure my parts live the best way i know how with what i got and i dont have alot of fancy tools to check everything so i have to go with what i think and know and some gut feelings for each problem that comes my way.
hope this helps. i would say mark the ones that are slow and not turning and replace the lifters.
