In a few weeks it's Turlock swap meet time again :beers:

The weekend of the 27/28th is it.

Its the 2 day event, I would love to host the BBQ as usual, and maybe we can get Kinzli and his local award winning beer out here too (local I mean by us taste sensitive palates :p )

I may drag the Chevelle out, and put it in the for sale area like usual. My truck got it's door banged up a little bit so it looks like poo :o

Ron, Sewage is looking forward to seeing you again ;)

I too would like to make it this time...

How much does the "car corral" cost? Purchase at the gate? or must prepay?

Debating if I should attempt to take the wagon... Seems to run okay around here (only gone about 2 miles though)... Need to fix a few things first, but nothing major (I think)...

Convertible has NO heater, so that out...

I won't have any beer ready :( It takes about a good 4 weeks to go from grain to beer, and I can't do it this week :(

Jan 2nd, 07, 3:36 PM
I'll be there.

Kinzli, just make us up some St Ides, maybe some Old English. Should only take a couple of hours given that good beer takes 4 weeks. Make us up some malt liquor, i'll bring the dominoes and some pistols for everyone to accessorize with. :D

Jan 3rd, 07, 8:12 PM
well,
maybe I won't bring the wagon to Turlock...

Monday I was replacing the tranny cooler lines. Hand bent some steel hardlines, but still connected with hose and clamps...

everything went okay, checked for leaks, and all was well..

Put it in gear; Rev/Drive/Rev/Drive, etc (fill the convertor and cooler) and then checked the fluid level... added some fluid, and went and dropped it back in gear... Everything going smooth...

THEN, I got out to recheck, and to my horror, one hose slipped off (under the front bumper), shooting about 1 quart of tranny fluid all over the garage (shot about 7-8 feet)... Big puddles on the floor, right on top of 4 extension cords (just took down Christmas lights), AND all over the front of my convertible!!! Luckily, it didn't reach the convertible top...

DOH!!!

All is fine now, after an hour of cleaning... I realize that BOTH motor mounts are wasted (in gear, the engine torques way off the mounts!). Got some new ones on order... Debating IF I should flare the line and add some additional hardline, eliminating all hose...

 I hope it's nothing serious, or you just are having trouble wrenching anymore....

The car corral *was* $25 a day to park your car in the fairgrounds last year, $40 for the weekend. You can pay at the gate as usual, but the day before one can purchase tickets in the dirt parking lot out back if you wanted to to insure a spot the next morning. Tony, you sound like me when I was 18 and driving my old Camaro for the first time with the trans fluid lines. Man, that was a huge mess :o

If anyone brings the cars in, we like to try to park together, like in a row or whatever works out. And then wander around and look for parts most of the morning with Ron, Al (try to make it my man, doooiieeet) and Tony with his cardboard billboard around his neck with the kneeknocker sign on it. I have developed a wise streak in myself the last couple of years and brought lawn type chairs with me, the legs get tired after all of that walking....and for newcomers I like to have everyone over at the house (in Turlock) for eats and a few beers so don't be shy :)

Oh, and my dog likes ice cubes.

Jeff, no worry man, just bring yourself if you can make it, we all miss ya around :) Your beer is the best though :beers:

Beaux, you had me laughing until I cried, funny stuff

I’m hoping to be there with my Uncles 66 Lincoln Continental 2 Dr. and also, my 86 Porsche 944 Turbo. Plus a few Big and Small block parts. I hope to be on my feet by then, but I also said that 2 months ago.

Once I get rid of the turbo, I can make some progress on the El Camino.

I look forward to meeting you guys.

True, how else is she going to hit a svelt 130lbs? It's hard work I will say that :)

Anyone up for meeting at the local Wal-Mart this year? We usually get there about 6:30 or so, then go in from there. Unless someone wants to get up eearlier and go to IHOP for breakfast first at 6AM or so.

Where is everyone going to be hanging out? I am a part renter on a "parts for sale" where a bunch of local guys hang out, drink only a couple, stay the night friday night, eat early breakfast on sat and head back to work the sales. Ive got some high back chevelle buckets in good working order, they need to be recovered and new pads, a set of media blasted and painted Ralleys with the plastic centercaps and incorrect beauty rings, not much else 'sept a couple of sets of camel hump 202 heads and some odds and ends. The other guys will probably have lots of other stuff but not sure what. Im not able to part with much of my '64 stuff yet as Im not done with my build yet. When Im done Im going to off load everything left over.

We usually roam around and walk every row in the place (10 miles :o )

Then head back over to the cars for sale area and set up camp somewhere aroung there.

What time will your group be done? I imagine when the place closes down around 3 or so. If you have time, swing by the BBQ at my place (about 5 min from the fairgrounds), we should be there hanging out still until 6-7.

Im hoping for a saturday deal, myself. Sunday kind of makes for a long day before having to go back to work monday and the overhead of work the next day always cuts things short because folks want to get home at a reasonable time. Plus, if its saturday I could pass in Craigs bushes and not even worry about it (Notice I DID NOT SAY in the DRIVEWAY!) ;)

No problem Jeff, I understand her not wanting another Mustang :p

Just got back from LA this evening, GTO did great. Went up the grapevine without sweat (what hill?)

Anyhoo, I just about got hit in a attempt to bait me into a freeway race in Fresno :o
A couple of late model 'stangs cornered me in 'via fast and furious style' scene when the one on my right decided to hit it, I dropped 2 gears and closed the gap when the driver suddenly changed lanes in front of me and dang near ran me off the road by nearly clipping the front of my car  I am lucky to say no damage was done, he missed. Needless to say I was quite upset at them while they diced throught traffic  Idiots, the finger salute was honered in this encounter.

On a side note, I was down interviewing for my soon to be promotion ( ), I was able to visit the founder of Carl's Jrs main office (very nice, and larger than my house), and hold a piece of the Berlin wall he had on his desk  I felt I was holding a significant piece of history :) Just thought I would share.

LOL!

Actually if I get the Elky the STI is going bye-bye to be replaced with something cheaper and more "sane" (boo!) As much as I like the little rice burner, it is depreciating and if I sell it now I won't lose much on it. The Chevelle and Elky aren't going to depreciate anytime soon, plus it would be cool to have a pair of '69 A-bodies with assisted breathing.

This meat market supplies a lot of the nice restaurants in town. They have killer boneless skinless chicken breasts as well ($1.70/lb.). Let me know what to get and how many pounds. I can throw it in my Mystery Cooler

Reta is making some potato salad, relish tray, dipped meatballs, and some standard chips dip etc...if we don't have to go to the store before we show here if you feel like getting some of the meats.

Thanks again, Craig & Reta. Was good to see all you guys again and hang out for a bit. I was kind of out of it from being sick and all but thank you for the hospitality - it was great and we all appreciate it as ALWAYS. :beers:
