Just about to get my 70 El Camino back from the painters and was wondering if anyone had any sound advice or tips to help keep the paint it's best until I can wash and wax it. She'll be garaged but not air tight. Worried about dust more than anything else. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks smile.gif

Grant, you have nothing to worry about. The paint will be dry when you pick it up. The only thing that can happen is it gets scratched when you try to hang chrome on. Dust will wash right off.

Thanks Roger. My friend said to just use one of those car dusters on it occasionally until I can wash & wax it for the first time. My concern with that is that the duster may scratch the clear coat. Should I try that or just let the dust accumulate til I wash it the first time? Just trying to get this right cause I can't afford another paint job.
Thanks,
Grant

I didnt know you had to wait afterwords. How long did they say or reccomend? Maybe just throw a cover or something over it a couple days smile.gif

Most paint manufactures say to wait 30 days before waxing, there are some waxes out there (pure carnuba) that can be used on fresh paint. It doesn't seal the paint and still lets it breath.
You should be able to wash your car with just water or a very mild car soap. I wouldn't cover it because the paint is still drying and could cause problems. Mike

I agree dont wax for a while but 3M makes a great product called Hand Glaze Show car Finish. No wax or silicone you can put on and the paint can breathe but yet keep it slick and shinny.
