During disassembly of my 66 HT, I have put all the small stuff in labelled jars. In the one with the door handles and door lock bolts and such I have this rubber bumper http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/other/bump.jpg . I cannot remember where it belongs. It's ap. 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. I probably should have two of them, but there is only one.

Does anybody know what it is meant for ?

Thanks

Rob

Looks like a pretty common part. Used it on many differnt years. Goes in the door jamb area. Check it out, you'll see the two little holes. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Look like door bumpers to me - exactly what I have on my '69. They fit into two little holes in the inside end of the door - 2 per door, upper and lower.

Dang it Tom, you beat me by 2 minutes.

Definitely door bumpers. These go on the edge of the door, there should be two holes on the top and at the bottom for them. Use some wd-40 and a blunt philips screwdriver to install them.

Still glad you chimed in. Just because I was first didn't mean I was right. Glad you backed me up ! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, at my level of automotive expertise I'm pretty well limited to helping with little rubber door bumpers - but I've got those down cold. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the replies guys.

I feel a bit dumb, but there is definitely no set of 2 little holes in my doors that will accommodate this kind of bumper.

What must have confused me on this is the fact that I also had two of these http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/other/bump2.jpg as well as the fact that the new rubber bumper (repro) kit contained 4 of those. Apparently two for each door, which I had already put in.

Thanks again.

Year One shows the ones with two small holes for 68-72 not 66.
