Can anyone tell me where (measurements) on the quarter panel and fender to install the SuperSport and 396 Turbo Jet Flags on a 67 Chevelle. Thanks

I don't know the answer, but I know where you can find it...

You should get an assembly manual for your car... Mine (for 1966) shows all the correct emblem placements...

Nothing worse than a car with the emblems in the wrong location...

1966 Can you point me in the right direction for the assembly manual. Do you know of a website to purchase this? Thanks

Dalls67,
I never could find the location for the SuperSport (rear quarter) emblems in my assembly manual (I got the manual with the car, might not be complete? looks like it is but...). I ended up going to a car show and taking pictures with a steel rule for reference. Unfortunately mine's a 66 so they'd be different. I'm not saying that the 67 manual doesn't have this stuff in it but I could never find it in my 66 manual.

Lance,
Thanks for the info. I ordered a 67 Assembly manual from ebay about an hour ago. Ebay Item #1846925718, I hope this will have it.

Chad,
I would appreciate you doing this. I'm like you, I hate to see emblems in the wrong place. I figured with all the knowledge on this website someone would be able to assist.

Another source of body information would be in the 'Body by Fisher 1967 Service Manual'. They might even be reproducing those now, although I bought a NOS one years ago. Unfortunately it doesn't have the actual measurements for the emblems, surprisingly.

Here's what I came up with.

Fender flags: Measuring from the top edge of the seam where the valance panel fits into the fender to the bottom straight edge of the flag box, go up 2 1/4". Measuring along that 2 1/4" horizontal line, the distance from the V point to the front edge of the fender is 5 7/8" Same for both sides.

Drivers SS:
S (super) to seam is 10"
from bottom of t to beltline is 4"
from t to seam is 1 1/8"
beltline to S (super) bottom is 4 1/4"
beltline to S (sport) bottom is 5 1/4"

Pass SS:
distances from beltline are the same
t to seam is 10 1/4"

I would think that they should be the same distance on both sides. We made templates off a true SS and we were very careful to get it right (from what I remember from 15 years ago.) Can anyone else verify the distance on their car?

Chad,

I think the factory just laid a template (Paper?) over the fender and drilled the holes, so that would make it likely that some holes are off... remember, these were production cars, and while fit and finish were important, some stuff wasn't noticible...

Funny I just asked this question for my '66. I found the measurements in an assembly manual but the refrence point was sketchy. What I am going to do is use the given dimentions to make a 6 hole template. This way I can use the existing 2 holes to line up the 4 new holes.
I did notice that by doing a little measuring that the existing 2 holes on one fender are about 1/8" higher than the other. I guess the guys on the assembly line were making rate that day.

I'm about to drill these holes.

Does anyone else have any input on the rear quarter supersport locations?

Thanks

THE ABOVE QUOTE IS INCORRECT DO NOT GO BY THESE NUMBERS!!!

I drilled the holes to these numbers and found out the hard way. There not even F$%#^&% close!

Now I have to weld up all 8 holes and do it right.
