I've been away for awhile dealing with son's dirtbike interests and this is a little long.
After frying the bearings last summer installing my new Voodoo 268 I am finally ready to start anew. No fault of Lunati, I instructed my teenager to keep the RPM's between 2000-3000 RPM which he did well. However, as I went in to take a phonr call he inadvertently knocked the connection for the electric fans loose, I failed to tell him to watch the temp gauge. :o The high pitched squealing pretty much told the story as well as the fine metal flakes in the oil:(
Is it possible to use a 502/502 take out system in Mark IV block?
Imagine either the cam would have to be changed or an electic fuel pump installed.
Do retro lifters have to be used or can Isky, Crower or Crane lifters be used. I see Crane lists "retro" and a separate listing for 67-90 BBC.
Advantage of solid liftes with a hydraulic roller? How would you set the lash? Like a soild or a hydraulic cam?
I should have stuck with my Ultradyne 280/288 which ran easily to my self imposed 6000 RPM limit without a hick-up.
So since I have to take her down to clean everything up I've toyed with the idea of upping to a 496. Leaving as is and opening the valves on my 063 heads. Had them pocket ported but did not change the valves.
And also considered the venerable 288/296. The Voodoo 272 hydraulic. The Voodoo 60212 roller or possibly calling Harold as he alluded that he ws working on something special to blow a few minds whilst he was employed bu Lunati, so Cam Motions is another possibliy, and I am not in a big hurry. As you can see I am a bit partial to his designs. Or I could put the 280/288 back in a probably be content, but as often said when the what if's hit it is time to explore.
67 Chevelle with approx 9.5 compression, 4 speed Muncie, 3:36 posi fun crusier, may take it to the track but not really sure this will ever happen.
