I'm stripping down the underbody and framework on my malibu classic but will have to store it for a bit till i can paint it all at once. Any tips on keeping it fresh until then, Do's and dont's?

Do Prime it with a good 2k or self etching primer.

Don't leave out in the elements (frames seem to be thought more resistant to rust etc..)

You could coat with oil or a rust inhibiterbut that will make more work for you later..

Would linseed oil work? That's what we use to clean off grease and we coat our grain truck floors in that.

No oil if you want to paint later. Check out this Rass-O-Nill stuff. http://www.icpi.net/rassonil.htm

I don't know your situation but thought you might get a chuckle out of this-

I'm a big advocate of POR15. I did my Chevelle with it and am currently restoring a '69 BB Corvette. After welding on the frame, I just pushed it outside and left it there for about 45 days while I worked on other parts. Lots of people were commenting on how tough it would be to strip off all the surface rust before painting it. Heck no, I'm actually prepping it for paint!

I'm to the point of reassembling it now and it looks fantastic.

I've always heard that even primer allows moisture to penetrate and shouldn't be left to sit without painting it. If you're not using a rust conversion product, I'd think you'd have to strip it of whatever you put on it for storage prior to painting.

edit- Oh yeah, forgot to mention- the stuff BigBlock455 mentioned sounds good too. Maybe next time for me...
