I have a complete, fresh ready to run 427 that I'm thinking about selling. Have really decided that the "numbers" thing is not where I want to be, and would rather have a big cubic inch motor that I'm not so phobic about hurting.
Anyway, this is a 427 4-bolt "512" block, with 840 heads. Heads are dated E-20-8. The motor is fresh and ready to put in a car. It has steel crank. Also has the GM aluminum "163" intake. Balancer is incorrect, it's an aftermarket high performance item, so I'll probably remove it. The motor is complete from intake to oil pan, with no exhaust manifolds.
How much should I ask for it?

What pistons and rods? Has the block been bored? Has the block been decked? Assuming that it hasn't been bored more that .060 and the heads are in good condition without any major modifications, I would think at least $4000 and as much as $6000. The 840 heads usually sell for $1200 to $1400 and the intake is about $400. I have seen standard bore blocks sell for $3500 and more. Ebay would probably be the best place to sell if you don't mind going through the hassle of shipping an engine. What you have is almost exactly like the one I bought last year. I bought mine off Ebay.

Block has been bored, is a fresh .060 overbore, with forged pistons, 13 to 1. It was used as a race motor. I've had it for quite a while, have to find specs on the rods, think they're original with ARP bolts.

I agree, 5 grand is very fair for an 427. If you can show it runs, thats even better.
