Im in the process of grafting a cowl induction dome off a 70 chevelle to a 2nd gen camaro hood. Got the thing welded in nicely and now went to cover it with duraglass, got that sanded down and applied 3 coats of rage lightwieght filler, I keep sanding it down find a some low spots, fill and sand again. Plus trying to go shopping etc. with my wife and daughter. So a few interuptions in the process. But gotta tell you, I would not want to do this for a living. I hope the end product will be worth it! I imagine having the right tools helps alot too. But, I will tip my hat to you guys that do bodywork. Its definetly a art form. Jim

Practice, practice, practice. When you do it day in, day out, it gets alot easier.. just like anything. The right tools definately help, and if you do it on a regular basis it's almost a mandatory timesaver, especially if you are doing it for a living. Keep sanding away, it will take some time to find your "style". Stupid as it sounds, everyone has their own way of going about things so they come out right. Did bodywork every day for several years, finally got it down to where I could really knock out great work fast, then left it for awhile. Now I'm back to it, and while I still know how to do everything, I sometimes have trouble remembering how I used to do things to bang that great work out so fast. Sometimes the best thing to do if you're having problems with a specific place is to just walk away and do something else for awhile. Once the frustration is gone and you have a clear head, go back and work on it. That sometimes helps me out, I could struggle with one little spot for hours, but if I take a break and work on something else, I might come back and knock the part out in 20 min.

Hey Jim, Sounds like an interesting mod. Can you post some pics? Body work does take a lot of time. As you do it more you learn more of the tricks. Send me some pics. What part of town do you live? I could maybe give you some tips? Not sure if I have any that can help but I will try.

Thanks I'll take any tips anyone has to offer. Im over by lakeside park, I just spraybombed it with some primer just to see what its going to look like. I know I have to take it off but at least I can see where Im at. And I think it looks natural on a second gen hood. Jim
