I was at the end of welding in the trunk pan of my 65 when my welder, a Craftsman(Lincoln), quit on me. It tripped the mini breaker on my extension cord. When I reset the breaker and tried to weld again, the wire feed button wouldn't work and the cooling fan ran on high speed on both HI and LOW settings (where it would run slower on the low speed). Any ideas on what to do?

Try it without the extension cord and mini breaker. I don't see how it could have been damaged by the breaker tripping.

Did that. No difference. Blower fan runs, no feed.

The blower and the wire feed are different circuits. Most Mig welders have a thermal
safty switch built in not to prevent the thransformer from MELTDOWN when the Duty cycle is exceeded.
I hope that is you problem.
"EXTENSION CORD" what gauge wire ?
I hope it was not your typical 16ga orange
drop cord. The I/R loss could case damage.
I hope it's just a cooldown thing.

Have you tried it since it cooled down? It may have simply been too hot.

Thanks guys. I called the 1-800 # inside the machine. They said I melted the rectifier and burned up the thermal breaker. $70 of parts shipped to my door. Be hee next week. Oh well. It just had to happen right in the middle of my 10 day thrash on the 65. I used a 5/16 rod with my arc welder to finish. THAT was tricky!
I vowed that nothing would stop me!!! 2 weeks of vacation wasn't going to be wasted.
