The foundation for this site was created in October of 1995 with the Hot Cars & Cold Beer website followed by Chevelle Cruising. Al paid for access and scripts out of his personal funds since that time. In 1999 support arrived from Ken Santoro at Ground Up Restorations, who believed in the future of the site and allowed it to continue.

The first dedicated webserver was in March of 1999 and we have been upgrading to faster servers every year or two since.

Camaros.net has been online since January of 2001 and has grown into a popular resource for Camaro Owners

After Team Chevelle was going for a few years I was kinda hoping someone would come along to help the bandwidth costs but was told the chevelle site was "too specific" and not of enough interest
About that time someone asked if they could copy the format from our site and I thought if anyone is copying the format it should be us, so Team Camaro came into being. That turned out to be a good mix as Ground Up sold chevelle and camaro parts and said they would help with the bandwidth.

It was always hoped that we could share one database of name/passwords but it never came about (and still isn't possible) and is the reason that Team Nova and Impala are so late in coming online - the names were registered in the 90's.
It was hoped that a familar look and feel would be a nice place to discuss other models (I've owned chevelles, camaros, novas and impalas) that we enjoy. To that end ChevyTeam is also in the mix as a spot to discuss non-specific Chevy models, sort of a common meeting area for the future. When you visit one of the Team Sites, the look and feel is the same so you don't have to fiddle around trying to find information, and chances are you will meet friends from one site on another. A nice community is what was envisioned.
Buicks.net belongs to a friend.

So, Team Chevelle is the egg, and Team Camaro is the chicken?

Team Corvette? Sold it to a gal who was going to build a site but nothing much has happened. Far too many sites dedicated to vettes already.

Al, how do you get charged for "bandwidth" & who charges you?

jeff, it was actually 1999 that camaros.net came alive, I get confused :clonk:

Bandwidth? It's not as big a deal now as we buy large blocks. We used to pay as we go for bandwidth from a network center (where the server is located). Think of it as the power meter on your house and how much electricity is on would be the load.
It's metered by the second and we can see all the peaks during the day or week when the server is delivering items like webpages, images etc.

Here is today's meter.
