can anyone give me advice on removing vinyl top molding on a 70 chevelle. Is it necessary to use the molding tool (which I don't have) or is there another method or trick. Thanks Tom

If a 70 is like my 69 and I think that it is, it will be bolted down at the corners. So you will need to remove the cap nuts 3/8 I think found inside the trunk and at the front sorta behind the side glass but you should be able to access the nuts without removing the glass but you may need to drop it down. then you can pop off the molding with a putty knife of something. Hope this helps

A lot of the tops have gotten vinyl top glue in behind the moulding when they put them on.Be careful when lifting the moulding off as when it is stuck,it comes off quite hard.try to work both sides of the glue spot to loosen.you have to pull the back door panels to get at the nuts that hold the corners on.Be very careful as aftermarket mouldings are not available for vinyl tops, they are a little bigger than the regular drip edgeing(as one of the guys on here found out)
