This car went for big bucks. But the vin on the engine compartment and the number on the front pad of the engine block don't match. For a numbers matching car I think they should match I'm I wrong?? Also with this engine set up is it really a 360HP or the common 325HP engine.

I'm starting my own restoration of a 1966 SS396 I just bought the same motor with the same block and head numbers. Holley carb and manifold. The guy told me its a 325HP. But then I see this engine not sure what to think. Is it just a difference in CAM between the 325 and the 360?

Thanks Chuck

Both the 325hp and 360hp shared the same block and heads. Camshafts were different lift and duration, carbs were different (there were many depending on not only HP rating, but trans type and whether A.I.R. or not).
