Hey Guys and Gals:

As my search for a car continues and I look to perhaps "building" a car there are many questions. I am leaning toward putting a fairly built 427 with roller cam and solid lifters (like maybe 700 HP) in a 70 car with automatic tranny. One of the cars I am looking at currently has a 396 supercharged motor with manual disc brakes. I am a little concerned about having a car with too much go and not enough stop so some of the questions are:

1.) If I just leave the manual disc brakes is this enough stopping power? My wife may also drive this car occassionally to shows and such and I want this to be safe for her.
2.) Is there any issue with converting to power disc brakes?
3.) What is involved parts and $$ wise?
4.) I have seen other questions regarding suitability of the motor and vacuum to handle power brakes. What are the controlling factors with this?

Thanks for the input

You can pretty much bet that creating a 427 that's putting out 700HP will not have enough vacuum for power brakes. You'll need to leave the manual disc brakes in place as is.
A properly functioning manual disc brake system will work just fine. That's what I have on my '70 and it works well.
